Sharp struggles with TV competition, Q3 2011 results reveal 86 percent drop in profit Feb 1st 2012, 11:22 It's pretty tough out there for TV manufacturers. Sharp's reporting its financial results for April-December last year, announcing a profit of 9.14 billion yen ($120 million), a drop of 57.37 billion yen since the same period in 2010. Despite announcing a whole gang of new displays for the year, Sharp has cut its profit forecast correspondingly, down to zero for March 2012. According to Reuters, the company was expected to post healthier results, having recently finished a new manufacturing plant and apparently strong demand for its high-end AQUOS TVs, although it's perhaps not strong enough. Well it just paid a visit to our friends at the FCC who promptly tore it down and took a few shots -- you know -- in the name of science. The pictures show the main board, the front and rear camera modules, various flex cables, the rear housing and display chassis, the battery, the capacitive digitizer and screen, the speaker and both antennae (WiFi / Bluetooth plus GPS). It looks like the tablet received minor modifications to the WiFi / Bluetooth antenna involving judicious application of Kapton tape. Go figure. Want to see more? Hit the via and source links below. That's Samsung's thinking, given the triumphant launch of its Galaxy S II -- in all its guises. While specifications for Sammy's next flagship are spinning rumor windmills across the web, there's nothing particularly concrete on what we'll be seeing just yet. However, in an official statement received by Techradar, it revealed that the phone will be treated to its very own launch -- something it's also plotting for its new Google TV sets. In its own words: "Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product." At least it sounds like there will still plenty to test out later this month -- and probably a whole new raft of confusing naming conventions.
