FRANKFURT - GERMAN sports car maker Porsche is considering producing in China or in the United States, its chief executive told Automotive News Europe.
To implement any such plans, Porsche might ask parent Volkswagen to allow the sports car maker to produce at the latter's factories, Matthias Mueller was quoted as saying in a prerelease on Saturday.
'The VW group plans to sell 10 to 11 million cars annually in the long term. Its production capacity is right now at 7-8 million,' he said.
'In order to cover the capacity needs within the VW group, around five, six new plants worldwide need to be built definitely. We should naturally signal our need early enough, otherwise we won't get then,' he added. -- REUTERS
