Twitter's cooking up a way for you to archive your old tweets, relive your Bieber fever again and again

Frustrated by a lack of access to your thoughts and feelings about world events and sandwiches circa 2008? Twitter's working on a way to let users export and download old tweets into a file, according to CEO Dick Costolo. As far a service for search all users, the exec doesn't see such a solution coming any time soon, telling reporters, "It's a different way of architecting search, going through all tweets of all time. You can't just put three engineers on it."

Microsoft teams up with shopping search engine for HTML5 digital catalogs

Microsoft teams up with shopping search engine for HTML5 digital catalogs

Dead tree product catalogs -- dated. Fortunate, then, at least for Mother Earth, that Microsoft's unveiled the results of its team-up with retail-focused search engine TheFind, several web-based Glimpse catalogs, offering the visual pizazz of a retail magazine without the carbon hangover. Injecting Redmond's HTML5 know-how into the shopping hub's catalog and social apps, it distills those functions into the single site. Stores including Brooks Brothers and Lands' End have already offered up their collections in the web store, but Techcrunch reckons the venture needs a little more work. The images appear to be little too compressed and blurred in the new format, while the detail view directs users to social network sharing rather than a product's description. But with Microsoft already offering the HTML5 juice that powers the online app for free, someone else might improve on the company's groundwork.

Logitech's Skype TV Cam HD passes through FCC

Logitech isn't giving up on living room video chats just yet. Sure, the Revue and the Viera-friendly TV Cam failed to set the world on fire, but a new TV Cam HD just hit the FCC and appears poised to bring Skype to your couch. There was a promo video on Vimeo, but it's since been pulled. Fortunately there's still a Best Buy listing (at the more coverage link) for the device which has it priced at $200. When will it hit shelves? That's anyone's guess... but we imagine it wont be much longer.

Google search nerds out, adds full-button scientific calculator

Google search nerds up, adds fullbutton scientific calculator

Search is Google's bread and butter, so it stands to reason the company would want to cram in as much universal functionality to that unassuming text box as possible. After having integrated graphing capabilities this past Winter, the Mountain View gang's at it again, expanding the breadth of its moneymaker with a full, pop-up scientific calculator. Users that input the beginnings of an equation from either the desktop site or mobile version (landscape only) will instantly see a 32-button layout appear in the space below, mapped for all the mathematical functions your left brain can't handle alone. The calculator can also be triggered by voice commands, so those of you averse to thumb-smashing will have the luxury of barking those algebraic equations straight into your handset. It's live now for the testing, but we warn you, it's no replacement for that game-filled TI-83.

Microsoft confirms dates for BUILD 2012 October 30th to November 2nd in Redmond

Microsoft just announced the big launch date for Windows 8 last week, and it's now also confirmed the dates for another of the company's key events this year. The next BUILD conference will take place between October 30th and November 2nd, with the company's Redmond campus serving as the host location. Registration will open up at 8AM Pacific on August 8th (hint, hint), at which point the company will also start dishing some details about speakers and events taking place. Naturally, we'll be there to report on all the goings-on if you can't make it yourself.
